What's not to like about sitting in my bathrobe making myself laugh?

The respect thing? Oh, don't even get me started.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2752863935200357433.post-11540628974954358322007-05-17T11:50:00.000-07:002007-05-17T11:50:00.000-07:00It's so fun to have watched your career unfold.And...It's so fun to have watched your career unfold.

And the RUBBER CHICKEN? Classic! Sounds fantastic.

I love that you've helped put the humor back in children's books, which sometimes seemed to be missing.

Now if it only got some respect, huh? ;-)Brent Hartingerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10962089725671246912noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2752863935200357433.post-66892536272167869532007-05-16T17:54:00.000-07:002007-05-16T17:54:00.000-07:00My kids haven't edited my young adult books. I wish she'd told me while I still had the chance to revise the book! I'm definitely putting her to work to critiqe my next manuscript.

My two boys (ages 7 and 10) have been really helpful with my chapter book manuscripts. I read the first two out loud, and they put up their right hand if they didn't understand something and their left hand if they thought something was funny. We had so much fun doing it!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2752863935200357433.post-80216978919993126232007-05-16T17:50:00.000-07:002007-05-16T17:50:00.000-07:00Thanks for the very nice comments! You know, I'm pr...Thanks for the very nice comments!

You know, I'm pretty happy with the era I'm in. I'm a total Internet junkie and don't know what I'd do without it. I also adore my microwave oven.

But if I had to choose another era, I wouldn't mind being a flapper in the Roaring 20s-- styling my hair in an easy-to-maintain bob, wearing short dresses with cute fringe, going to speakeasies... Sounds like a blast!

The cancer thing: I had all the symptoms for this rare type of cancer which the doctors were sure I had. It has a really low mortality rate, but still... I cried every day before the surgery, but also reevaluated my life. It turned out to be just a big benign tumor, thank Gawd. I feel so lucky.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2752863935200357433.post-80376281108850308192007-05-16T16:15:00.000-07:002007-05-16T16:15:00.000-07:00Debby,Misdiagonsed with cancer? I loved it--so much fun. And sadly, I remember first hand some of those 70's fads. Ick--furry orange toilet seat covers! What were we thinking?! You really delivered a fun, but thoughtful book that made me think about the eras we are born into and how maybe another one would suit us better. Other than "now" is there another era you think would be right for you?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
